Green Card Insurance

For your travel with your own Motorcycle in Europe, by European law you need to have the Green Card Insurance policy; and also to pick up your Motorcycle at Customs when you fly your Motorcycle from overseas to Europe, Customs will ask you for it. Without Green card no Motorcycle. The Green Card Insurance is only a liability for minimum insurance of Euro $3,75 Million in Germany, and in each country the minimum liability is different.

The Green card Insurance is valid in the following 30 countries:

  • In all other European countries and some special Eastern European countries, you have to buy it at the border.

You can buy up to 12 months of Green card Insurance. Each month is 30 days and starts with the date you tell us. Each 30 Days are Euro $55.00, incl. shipping (mail to the USA, Canada or Mexico). Insurance ordered less then 30 days prior to starting day is Euro $10.00 or $15 US Dollars extra handling. We ship worldwide, too. We can buy the Green card Insurance 30 Days before you like it effective and send it to your home address in the USA so you have it with you when you fly to Europe.   

We need from you by email complete information: (application not accepted by insurer without ALL information at the SAME time)

  • Full address with phone number and if possible fax number
  • Name of driver and/or second driver
  • Birthdate(s) or all drivers
  • Make of Vehicle 
  • VIN number of Vehicle
  • Licence Plate Number
  • Date when the insurance should start - day, month, year
  • Address where to send papers.
  • Check to cover amount. Please email about payment as there are different options available.
  • We can issue insurance 30 days prior to the effective date and mail it to you.

VERY IMPORTANT:

1)     The Green Card Insurance is not cancellable/refundable once purchased (this is a policy of the insurer, not me).

2)     The Insurer does not sell the policy prior to 30 days before the effective date. So it is not possible to send it to your earlier, sorry.

3)     The Green Card policy will be sent via regular Postmail. If you require faster service (DHL, Fedex, etc) this is available at normal costs.

4)     It is critical to sign the Green Card policy on pages 1 and 3 where indicated in order to validate the policy coverage.

5)     There is no need to send anything back. Keep all papers with you during your trip.

6)     In case of a claim/accident, please remember to contact the local office of the Insurer in the country the incident occurs in. The list is on the policy. Knopftours is not the claim office.

7)     The Green Card policy is only a Third-party liability insurance. It does not cover Comprehensive or Personal damages.
